Designing The Architecture Of Words

Print / publication

I proposed a new design for Metropolis, a magazine about architecture and design. We really got excited at the idea of building layouts to look architectural in nature, especially in blocks of type. For the feature story, I did just that—the text blocks on each spread are visually transformed to reflect the images that they talk about.

I also designed a typographic masthead that represented the word "metropolis"—layers of buildings and forms overlapping one another, all blending together to build their own new texture.
